Questions and Answers

How much does it cost?
The complete cost for the Private Balloon Pilot Ground School is $325.00. The complete cost for the Commercial Balloon Pilot Ground School is $350.00.

What is included?
The course fee includes all four days of classroom training, workbook, handouts and other materials, a diploma and the proper logbook endorsement upon successful completion of the class.

What will I learn?

Our goal is to provide the highest quality training possible! We will, of course, cover knowledge areas that you will be tested on when you take your written exam: weather, airspace, FARs , navigation, aircraft performance, etc. By expanding the course to four days, we have built in much more time for each student to ask questions, interact with each other, and participate in break-out sessions not normally found in balloon pilot classroom curriculum.

I'm am interested in crewing - will this course help me?

Of course! While the focus of the class is to develop the knowledge needed to be a safe and professional balloon pilot, the course is ideal for any balloon crew who wants to learn all they can about safe and legal balloon operations. The value of a crew person rises dramatically when they can work as a team with their pilot and help plan flights using their knowledge of weather, FARs , and aircraft performance. This course prepares you to obtain your BFA Level IV Crew Certificate.

How do I sign up?
Class size is limited, and registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. You can sign up by calling Philip Bryant at 713-622-9074 or sending an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  . A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required with your registration (payable by credit card or check) and the balance must be received one week before the first class.
